Kamlesh Khunti is Professor of Primary Care Diabetes & Vascular Medicine at the University of Leicester. His research into screening, risk assessment, obesity and vascular disease in diabetes, particularly in black and ethnic minority groups, has had numerous important impacts on clinical practice and policy. His work on multi-ethnic screening risk scores for diabetes has significantly influenced the content of important international guidelines and the NHS Vascular Checks Programme being implemented in England. He is also a senior advisor to the Department of Health, to NICE, the South Asian Health Foundation and the European Society of Diabetes.
