Jonathan Schott is Professor of Neurology at University College London. His research has significantly shaped our understanding of Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias and influenced how patients are diagnosed and treated. He is an internationally recognised expert in atypical, unusual and young onset forms of dementia. His work studying cognitive ageing in the world’s longest continuously studied birth cohort has provided vital evidence on factors predisposing to, and protecting against, late-life cognitive impairment. This work informs understanding of disease mechanisms as well as influencing governmental prevention policy, and trials to preventing cognitive decline. He has major roles influencing policy and shaping the research agenda and acts as a spokesperson, educator and patient advocate.
