Joanne Webster is Chair of Parasitic Diseases at the Royal Veterinary College. She is an outstanding epidemiologist, ecologist and evolutionary biologist, who has made important discoveries that contribute to improving human and animal health in resource poor settings. They have influenced greatly our understanding, management and control of the neglected tropical parasitic diseases. At the Royal Veterinary College, she has been involved in setting up the London Centre for Neglected Tropical Disease Research bringing together leading experts in infectious disease epidemiology, NTD control, and parasite biology. This has major implications for the design of control programmes and is already influencing international policy.
