Graham Cooke, NIHR Professor at Imperial College London, is preeminent nationally and internationally in infectious diseases, a reputation gained through consistent work in Africa, Asia and the UK. His greatest impact has been to provide evidence to supporting international elimination efforts for viral hepatitis which remains a leading cause of death globally. His leadership of multi-disciplinary teams has not only involved defining optimal treatment regimens, but also covered case-finding, viral sequencing, transmission modelling, health economics and epidemiology. He led on COVID research at the Imperial NHS Trust and provided critical input to the COVID-19 response. He led development of the COVIDnudge diagnostic and REACT-2, the largest self-testing study of the pandemic which provided critical scientific insights in real-time for policy decisions.
