Chris Chiu, Professor of Infectious Diseases at Imperial College London, is internationally recognised for his leadership in respiratory virus research and vaccine development. He led the first-in-the-world SARS-CoV-2 human infection challenge study during the COVID-19 pandemic which generated immediate and critical data on infection dynamics and diagnostics that shaped national infection control policy. He is an advocate for vaccines, supporting clinical trials globally and promoting public engagement and involvement to address vaccine hesitancy. His work is a central part of global initiatives for pandemic preparedness, through the integration of fundamental and translational research with policy and industry.
