Chris Denton is Professor of Experimental Rheumatology at University College London. He is a world leading authority on systemic sclerosis, a rare but devastating autoimmune fibrotic disease. He harnessed advances in endothelial and fibroblast biology to develop novel human cell culture models to study SSc pathogenesis. He was then one of the first to apply new mouse genetic technologies that would allow hypothesis testing in vivo through generation of murine phenocopies. He has held senior positions at the British Society for Rheumatology, Versus Arthritis and NHS England. He is a global leader in rheumatology and a tireless advocate both for patients and academic medicine.
