Bill Newman is Professor of Translational Genomic Medicine at the University of Manchester. He is a recognised leader in Genomic Medicine who influences UK services and research in Rare Diseases and pharmacogenetics. He is a key architect of the Manchester Centre for Genomic Medicine where he and his team deliver transformational work. He leads a national implementation project on pharmacogenetics in primary care and an NHSE Network of Excellence. His work on understanding and preventing drug-induced hearing loss in predisposed neonates is now adopted for national rollout by NICE. Internationally, he has built major training and collaborative links with clinical genetics departments in Beijing, China; Manipal, India; and Haifa, Israel.
