Professor of Translational Cardiovascular Sciences at University of Glasgow, Andrew Baker has made many outstanding contributions to both vascular medicine and gene and cell therapy. His main achievements have been to take novel gene and RNA concepts through proof-of-concept and high impact publications through to translational studies. Professor Baker has also made seminal contributions to the science that underpins gene therapy, particularly viral routes of infection, and has documented an entirely new pathway used by adenovirus to infect cells in vivo. He also possesses in depth regulatory experience for gene and cell therapy products through his work on the UK Gene Therapy Advisory Committee over 8 years.
