Professor Tim Aitman FRSE FMedSci

Dr Tim Aitman is MRC Clinical Scientist at the MRC Clinical Sciences Centre at Hammersmith Hospital. He has used his understanding of physiology, medicine and genetics to dissect insulin resistant phenotypes in the spontaneously hypertensive rat. He discovered that mutations in Cd36 were associated with insulin resistance - a finding that has been confirmed in humans.
