Professor Stephen Franks is Professor of Reproductive Endocrinology at Imperial College, London. He is the world authority on polycystic ovary syndrome. His work has been a model of how to combine clinical phenotypic observations with molecular genetics, thereby providing a deep understanding for both the hyperandrogenism and hyperinsulinaemia associated with polycystic ovaries.
