Professor Raymond Tallis FMedSci
Professor Raymond Tallis is Professor of Geriatric Medicine at the University of Manchester. He is one of the most outstanding academics working in geriatric medicine. His research has focused in three areas: epilepsy in old age, neurological rehabilitation and stroke. Through his primary research, Raymond Tallis has contributed to putting epilepsy in old age on the map and devising optimum methods for the management of this condition. There is a further aspect of Professor Tallis’s life, which will make him a particularly valuable Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences, namely his expertise in philosophy. He has many significant non-medical publications in the field of philosophy and he has a parallel career as a broadcaster and commentator on philosophical issues.
