Penny Jeggo is a Senior Scientist and Honorary Professorial Fellow at the University of Sussex. She is internationally respected for her contributions to our understanding of how DNA double strand breaks are repaired and how genetic defects in these repair pathways lead to human diseases. She has also made important contributions to revealing the genetic basis of other DNA damage response disorders such as Seckel Syndrome. Her profound knowledge of the molecular basis of human radiosensitivity, is recognised by membership of national and international committees advising on radiation protection.
