Professor Paul Moss OBE FMedSci
Professor of Haematology
University of Birmingham
Elected Fellow 2016
Paul Moss is Professor of Haematology at the University of Birmingham and is a leading international figure in translational human immunology, studying in particular both the pathogenic and therapeutic potential of T cell responses. His work was first to show focussing of human T cell receptor usage in response to viral infection and progressed to the seminal finding that antigen-specific T cells can be directly visualised ex vivo by staining with HLA-peptide tetramers. Professor Moss established the academic Department of Haematology at Birmingham, now recognised as one of the strongest in Europe, and is currently Research Director for the Medical School and Chair of the MRC Infection and Immunity Board.
