Professor Neil Pearce FMedSci

Professor Pearce is Director of the Centre for Global NCDs, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. He is a world leader in epidemiological methods and their application to non-communicable diseases (NCDs). He has made major contributions to asthma, occupational, cancer, environmental, and social epidemiology, and epidemiological methods. His asthma research established the hazards of certain beta-agonist asthma medications, and the importance of non-allergic mechanisms for asthma. He co-founded the International Study of Asthma and Allergies in Childhood (ISAAC), involving more than 300 centres in more than 100 countries. He co-established the Global Asthma Network which is working to improve asthma care in low-and-middle-income countries (LMICs).
