Michael Eddleston is Chair of Clinical Toxicology at the University of Edinburgh. He is a world-leading clinical toxicologist and public health researcher. He works predominantly on pesticide poisoning in rural Asia (a major cause of premature death) through research on pesticide storage, toxicity, antidotes, and other policy approaches, as well as large animal studies for which he established a new Wellcome Trust-funded facility that identified the crucial toxic influence of pesticide solvents. He also directs the Centre for Pesticide Suicide Prevention in Edinburgh to bring together the legal, public health and advocacy skills needed to support regulators and UN agencies in their work.
