Dr Mene Pangalos is Executive Vice President of AstraZeneca’s Innovative Medicines and Early Development Biotech Unit. He has been instrumental in transforming AstraZeneca’s R&D productivity and has driven greater collaboration with academic, charity and peer organisations. He has also pioneered programmes to promote scientific exchange and open innovation and has fostered a science driven culture. A recognised leader in neuroscience research, he has remained active in Alzheimer’s disease research and GABA-B receptor molecular pharmacology. He is currently overseeing the creation of a new research facility in Cambridge as well as being the driving force behind the creation of the fast growing Alderley Park BioHub.
