Elected Fellow 2000
Professor Martin Humphries is Professor of Biochemistry and Wellcome Trust Principal Research Fellow at the School of Biological Sciences, University of Manchester. He has made major contributions to our understanding of the molecular basis of integrin function. These include important studies of the structural basis of the interactions between fibronectin and its integrin receptor, alpha 4 beta 1. His work has implications which may be important for the design of anti-adhesive drugs.
