Dr Mark Worwood is Reader in Haematology at the University of Wales College of Medicine. His research has led to important advances in understanding iron metabolism. He pioneered the use of the serum ferritin assay in clinical medicine and has advanced our knowledge of the physiology and biochemistry of circulating ferritin.
