Professor Margaret Snowling CBE FBA FMedSci

Margaret Snowling is Professor of Psychology at the University of York and is an expert on childhood disorders of reading and language. Her basic research includes longitudinal studies of dyslexia, language impairment, speech disorders and Down syndrome as well as case-control studies of autism-spectrum disorders, comprehension impairments and non-verbal learning difficulties. This work has led to the development and evaluation of interventions that ameliorate children’s difficulties in oral language, reading and comprehension.The Centre for Reading and Language that she has established at York brings together academic researchers, clinicians and educational professionals in the pursuit of best practice for children with specific and general learning difficulties. She has played a leading role in the dissemination of good practice in the field of developmental cognitive disorders and contributed widely to the training of education and health professionals.
