Kevin Fox is a world-renowned expert in synaptic plasticity who has been instrumental in making the rodent barrel cortex one of the standard models of cortical plasticity. He has written the book on the “Barrel Cortex”, and is a leading international authority on sensory processing and cortical anatomy, physiology, development and plasticity. His pioneering work changed the way plasticity was studied in visual cortex, and led to the realisation that adult plasticity is also present in this structure. He has led the field of cortical plasticity for a quarter of a century.
