Professor Kathryn Wood is Professor of Immunology in the Nuffield Department of Surgery at the University of Oxford. She has an international reputation for her work in transplantation immunology, especially in relation to her studies of the mechanisms of the induction of tolerance to allografted organs. She has studied how tolerance may be induced by antigen pre-treatment in immunologically manipulated recipients, and contributed to our knowledge of the role of regulatory T lymphocytes in the maintenance of tolerance to alloantigens.
