Professor Jonathan Weber CBE FMedSci

Professor Jonathan Weber is the Jefferiss Professor of Genito-Urinary Medicine & Communicable Diseases at Imperial College. He was the first full-time clinical investigator of HIV infection in the UK. He established a new department at St Mary’s Hospital in 1991 committed to clinical investigation of retroviruses and other sexually-transmitted diseases, and undertook the first demonstrations of the anti-retroviral activity of a new class of compound, the HIV proteinase inhibitor Saquinavir, and the nucleoside analogue Lamivudine.
