Professor John O'Brien FMedSci
John O’Brien, Professor of Old Age Psychiatry at Cambridge, is a leading figure in dementia and old age depression research. He is recognised nationally and internationally for his translational studies which incorporate brain imaging, clinical evaluation and post-mortem neuropathology. He has organised several key international academic meetings and run a series of popular training courses in neuroimaging in conjunction with the International Psychogeriatric Association. He is also editor of several major textbooks in the field of dementia. Professor O’Brien is a first rate communicator of science, in high demand by scientific, clinical and lay audiences and a natural ambassador between NHS service providers and the research community.
