John Danesh is Professor of Epidemiology and Medicine at University of Cambridge. He has made many seminal observations regarding risk factors for coronary heart disease with important implications for disease prediction and prevention. He has pioneered the use of integrative population approaches to provide novel insights about the causes and predictors of CHD. He created and directs the landmark Emerging Risk Factors Collaboration which elucidates the relevance of cardiovascular risk factors, and has created major bioresources that benefit the UK research community, such as the INTERVAL study, the UK’s largest recall-by-genotype bioresource and largest component of the NIHR BioResource.
