Harry Campbell is Professor of Genetic Epidemiology and Public Health at the University of Edinburgh. His most important contributions are in the control of childhood diseases in the economically developing world. He started the pneumonia research programme in MRC Gambia and then moved to WHO Geneva where he. |Professor Campbell published the first estimates of the global burden of childhood pneumonia raising awareness that it is the most important cause of child death. He is a regular advisor to the WHO where he has helped develop global clinical guidelines, action plans and training materials.
