Graeme Laurie is Professor of Law and first holder of the Chair of Medical Jurisprudence in the School of Law at the University of Edinburgh. His research interests concern the role of law in promoting and protecting medicine, science and technology. He writes in the fields of medical law & ethics and intellectual property law, principally patents. Graeme Laurie is Director of the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) which was the first law centre of its kind supported by the AHRC. Most recently, he was appointed a member of the BMA's Ethics Committee.
