Professor David Wilkinson is Senior Scientist in the Division of Developmental Neurobiology at the National Institute for Medical Research at Mill Hill. He is a leading researcher in the field of developmental biology. He discovered segmental gene expression in the vertebrate hindbrain and his work on the Krox-20 and Hox genes has provided an important framework for understanding molecular mechanisms of segmentation and axial patterning in the central nervous system. His work is central to our understanding of craniofacial development.
