Professor David Lalloo CMG FMedSci
David Lalloo is Vice-Chancellor of Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine. He is a highly successful clinical researcher in tropical medicine and global health, focusing on serious, burdensome conditions. His research has changed practice and policy in low-and-middle-income countries as well as the UK.
His work on HIV and complicating infections demonstrated new solutions for improved health outcomes and the potential for harm if treatments were based on effectiveness in western populations. His research on malaria has informed leading roles in writing national and international guidelines for treatment and prophylaxis, and his work on snake bite has led both to its recognition as a significant burden and to increasingly effective treatments.
