David Klenerman is Professor of Biophysical Chemistry at the University of Cambridge. His innovative development and insightful application of novel physical methods to biology and biomedicine has had a major impact on medical science. |He co-invented the development of next generation DNA sequencing methods, which is one of the most important advances in biomedicine in the last decade. This invention was developed and commercialised by the spin out company Solexa, which he co-founded, and more than 1000 instruments have now been sold world-wide, making it the most widely used next generation method and used in most major sequencing centres in the world.
