David Burn is Professor of Movement Disorders Neurology at Newcastle University. He is an internationally renowned researcher in Movement Disorders and has had a major leadership role in British neurology. His research on the cognitive aspects of Parkinson’s disease and Dementia with Lewy Bodies has highlighted the burden of non-motor symptoms and established that cognitive impairment is a significant and frequent feature of Parkinson’s. Professor Burn has assumed key leadership roles in neurology and academia, being appointed as the National Specialty Lead for Neurodegeneration and the NIHR Clinical Research Network, and is the National Clinical Director for Parkinson’s UK where he has established a Parkinson’s excellence network.
