Professor David Newby FRSE FMedSci
David Newby is Professor of Cardiology at the University of Edinburgh. His contributions in the field of vascular injury and repair are internationally recognised. He is Director of the Wellcome Trust Clinical Research Facility in Edinburgh, and also Director of the Clinical Research Imaging Centre. The work on vascular and endothelial dysfunction and endogenous fibrinolysis has provided novel insights into our understanding of vascular regulation and also into the role of diesel pollution on the cardiovascular system. This has influenced recommendations of the Department of Health Committee on Pollution. David is leader in the field of translational cardiovascular science and his work is continuing to influence our understanding of disease.
