Professor Arjen Dondorp FMedSci

Arjen Dondorp is Deputy Director and Head of Malaria and Critical Illness at the University of Oxford. He is an active clinician scientist who is the world’s leading authority on the pathophysiology and the treatment of severe malaria. He led the two randomised controlled trials in severe falciparum malaria which changed global treatment.

He leads a large intensive care unit (ICU) registry across Asia and has created the world’s largest research network of ICUs in resource-limited settings. He led studies to improve the care of critically ill patients in ICUs and led the adaptation of sepsis guidelines for use in these settings. He has made truly major contributions to improvements in global health.
