Professor Andrew Rees FMedSci

Professor Andrew Rees is Regius Professor of Medicine at the University of Aberdeen. He is an academic nephrologist whose clinical research has led to the now standard approach to the treatment of rapidly progressive glomerulonephritis. He has pursued a sustained programme of work using Goodpasture’s Disease as a model of autoimmunity. This has resulted in the identification and cloning of the autoantigen, the molecular definition of the HLA susceptibility to the disease, and to the biochemical characterisation of antigen-derived peptides presented to T cells.
