Professor Steven Sacks FMedSci

Professor Steven Sacks is the Head of the Department of Nephrology and Transplantation at the Guy’s, King’s and St. Thomas’ School of Medicine, King’s College London. He has made important contributions to our understanding of the role of complement in renal disease, in particular the role of local synthesis of complement in solid organ transplantation and rejection. He has described novel mechanisms for the invasion of epithelial cells in the urinary tract by the subversion of the complement system by E. coli.
