John McMurray is Professor of Medical Cardiology at University of Glasgow and is one of the foremost academic cardiologists in the UK and internationally. His research has made major contributions to fundamental changes in clinical practice, predominantly in heart failure but also in coronary artery disease, atrial fibrillation and cardiovascular consequences of diabetes and chronic kidney disease. He is a major thought leader for revolutionary clinical endeavours making him an undisputed leader in academic cardiology world-wide. He is also an international leader in cardiovascular epidemiology and health services research, including socioeconomic determinants of health outcomes and health economics.
