Timothy Hallett is Professor of Global Health at Imperial College London and is a world leader in HIV/AIDS epidemiology. He incorporated economics and transmission dynamics into the development of WHO's guidelines on antiretroviral treatment, showing the importance of a "population perspective" in making decisions. He directly informed the WHO Hepatitis Health Sector Strategy and chaired the Global Fund Modelling Impact Committee, using epidemiology and economic modelling to inform the investment case made to donors. Throughout his approach has been to bring methodological rigour to evidence to inform global priority setting and treatment strategy decisions for HIV/AIDS.
