Teresa Lambe, Calleva Head of Vaccine Immunology at the University of Oxford, focuses on improving human health through vaccination, stopping epidemics before they become pandemics. She co-designed the Oxford/AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine, led the preclinical studies and oversaw the delivery of the immune results needed to support regulatory approval. In 2014, she played a critical role in the global response to the Ebola outbreak in West Africa, establishing a rapid, non-invasive diagnostic test and overseeing the assessment of immune responses toward Ebolavirus in real-time, facilitating assessment of candidate vaccines. Professor Lambe continues to progress vaccines against outbreak pathogens working with a number of global partners; the WHO, Moderna, BioNTech, AstraZeneca, and CEPI.
