Yanick Crow is Professor of Genetic Medicine at the University of Manchester. He is an academic clinical geneticist with expertise in paediatric neurogenetics who has undertaken a programme of research which has provided fundamental insights into a rare group of neuroinflammatory disorders. His depth of knowledge of phenotypic and genetic aspects has led to much improved clinical characterisation of this complex group of conditions. His characterisation of disorders showing intracranial calcification has been of major importance, resulting in an improved clinical classification that has been widely adopted. His leadership in paediatric neurogenetics led him to found the UK Neuro-Genetics Club, which acts as a point of national reference for rare disease diagnosis and research.
