Julian Blow is deputy director and associate dean of research at the Wellcome Trust Centre for Gene Regulation & Expression in Dundee, which he helped to establish. He has made key contributions to understanding how DNA replication is controlled in eukaryotes. Recently he has demonstrated the existence of a new stress response by showing how cells activate dormant replication origins to promote survival in the face of replicative stress.
