Gordon Brown is the 6th Century Chair in Immunology at University of Aberdeen. He is an international leader in the fields of innate immunity and medical mycology, whose scientific contributions have significantly advanced our understanding of host-pathogen interactions. Importantly, his research has helped to bring mycology into the mainstream interest of the immunology community. Professor Brown is the programme lead for Immunity, Infection and Inflammation at Aberdeen and also an Honorary Professor at the University of Cape Town. He has also contributed significantly to the vitality of his field and the promotion of science in developing countries, particularly South Africa. 100
