Professor Freda Stevenson is Professor of Immunology at the Tenovus Laboratory, University of Southampton. Her main focus and contribution has been to develop new immunotherapeutic approaches to the treatment of cancer. This has involved a programme of basic research in immunology and molecular biology with linkage to pilot clinical trials. Lymphoma and leukaemia involving B-lymphocytes have been the major targets so far, but the principles and technology may be relevant for most cancers.
