Eleanor Barnes is Professor of Hepatology and Experimental Medicine at the University of Oxford and her work on Hepatitis C has made her a leading authority in this area in the UK. Her work straddles the basic science of this area and the clinical/translation studies in the area of novel vaccines in patients. Her studies of HCV vaccines have paved the way for the most advanced clinical vaccine products to date. Professor Barnes has also co-ordinated international research efforts and created a major registry for IgG4 disease. She continues to work hard as part of the clinical team whilst also maintaining an international profile in hepatology.
