Professor in Molecular Nutrition and Metabolism at Cambridge, Toni Vidal-Puig is an authority on the pathogenesis of obesity, diabetes and related metabolic disease. He has used his enormous energy, drive and intelligence to develop an internationally leading programme in metabolic research. Toni is a Programme Leader in the MRC Metabolic Diseases Unit and his leadership skills as both Deputy Director of the MRC Centre for Obesity and Related Metabolic Diseases, and the Scientific Director of the Cambridge Phenomics Centre, have been fundamental to the recent success of translational metabolic research in Cambridge. His leadership in training and mentoring, networking and creating public awareness, is having a major impact.
