Professor Alan Burnett is Professor and Head of the Department of Haematology at the University of Wales College of Medicine, Cardiff. He is highly regarded internationally for his work on the treatment of haematological malignancies by bone marrow transplantation. He has pioneered the field of autologous bone marrow transplantation and published the first series of patients with acute myeloid leukaemia to be treated by this approach.
