Paul Bolam is MRC Senior Scientist and Associate Director at the Anatomical Neuropharmacology Unit. He is a world leader in the analysis of the functional organization of the basal ganglia. His major contributions include the unraveling of the networks within the neostriatum, and the networks interconnecting the neostriatum to other parts of the basal ganglia and other parts of the brain. His most recent work is providing unique insights into the susceptibility of dopamine neurons in Parkinson’s disease. Paul Bolam’s elegant work is characterized by a combination of finely-detailed study and visionary interpretation.
