Paul Matthews is Professor of Clinical Neurosciences and Head of the Division of Brain Sciences at Imperial College London. He is a clinician scientist who has made major discoveries in the field of multiple sclerosis and who has acted as a model for an integrated Industry-Academia career; Industry and academic centres world-wide are using the imaging tools that he developed. He founded the Oxford Centre for Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging of the Brain and the GSK Clinical Imaging Centre at Imperial College, both recognized as international centres of excellence within their first years and reflecting his high academic productivity and strong engagement with training.
