Maria Belvisi is Senior Vice President and Head of Research and Early Development at AstraZeneca and is among the world’s most talented and productive pharmacologists in the field of respiratory medicine. Her highly influential research has focused on the cellular and molecular mechanisms of asthma, COPD and chronic cough. Her transformative contributions to understanding neurobiology of the lung have provided unique mechanistic insights into understanding the cough reflex and demonstrated the existence of distinct neurophenotypes which drive cough across patients with different chronic lung diseases.
