Jonathan Grigg is Professor of Paediatric Respiratory Medicine at Queen Mary, University of London. He is the leading UK paediatrician on the adverse effects of air pollution and remains an international leader in the treatment of wheeze. He has produced papers that provide biological plausibility for the association between air pollution and susceptibility to both viral and bacterial infections. As a member of the UK Committee on the Medical Effects of Air Pollution, he advised the Government contributing to several major reports and chaired its Working Party on Birth Outcomes. He led an NHS working party on environmental triggers, wrote the NHS guidance on air pollution, and created the first NHS environmental assessment service for asthmatic children.
