Jonathan Deeks is Professor of Biostatistics at the University of Birmingham. He is a world-leading biostatistician in test evaluation making major impacts to the NHS Centre for Reviews and Dissemination where he developed, evaluated and applied methods for meta-analysis for intervention studies, producing training materials, including writing key sections of the Cochrane Handbook. His expertise is widely sought and he has provided international leadership to develop and implement a new international standard for systematic reviews of diagnostic test accuracy at the WHO. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he led over 30 world experts to produce trustworthy reviews about Covid-19 tests and provided essential critique of policy and studies as a public service to all.
