Inke Näthke, Professor of Epithelial Biology at the University of Dundee, is an internationally recognised cell biologist and expert on the Adenomatous Polyposis Coli tumour suppressor protein. Mutations in APC initiate most colon cancers, the second highest cause of cancer-related deaths in the developed world. She combined biochemistry, cell biology and novel high-resolution tissue imaging to reveal how mitosis, migration, differentiation and tissue dynamics are linked, laying the foundation for cell-based computational models to interrogate disease states and predict responses to therapeutics. Professor Näthke founded the Scottish Research Integrity Network, joining institutions across Scotland to share best practice, training, and support. Nationally, she contributes as trustee of UKRIO co-authoring their upcoming report on barriers to research misconduct investigations.
